WEFA opens three renovated special education classrooms in Istanbul

WEFA, an international humanitarian aid organization, has opened three renovated special education classrooms at Can Gür Primary School in Istanbul’s Ümraniye district, in cooperation with Türkiye İyilik Kulübü.

The opening ceremony, held on 12 October 2026, was attended by Ümraniye District Governor Yüksel Çelik, Ümraniye Mayor İsmet Yıldırım, district education director Mustafa Özen, WEFA President H. Musab Aydın, and Can Gür, chairman of CANOVATE and the school’s main sponsor. Pınar Ayabakan, chair of the Türkiye İyilik Kulübü Platform, and Türkiye İyilik Kulübü President Elmira Ayabakan also attended.

The renovated classrooms are intended to support students who need special education and help provide learning environments better suited to their needs.

“Supporting every child’s development is a shared responsibility”

WEFA President H. Musab Aydın highlighted that children have different abilities and developmental needs. “The fact that our children are different from one another does not diminish their value in any way. On the contrary, understanding each child’s individual characteristics, supporting their abilities and opening up new opportunities for them is a shared responsibility,” Aydın said.

He expressed hope that the renovated classrooms would contribute to the children’s development and thanked Türkiye İyilik Kulübü representatives, the school administration, teachers and all other partners involved in the project.

Gifts presented to students

As part of the ceremony, a cake was cut with the students to mark WEFA’s 20th anniversary. Gifts prepared for the children were also presented.

Since 2006, WEFA has carried out humanitarian aid activities in different parts of the world. Its education projects aim to help children gain access to better opportunities.
