Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang has urged Europe to move faster in building the computing infrastructure needed to compete in artificial intelligence. Speaking at a technology event in Berlin, he presented a modular data-centre system designed to shorten the time needed to deploy high-performance AI capacity.
Europe currently accounts for only a small share of global AI computing capacity, according to figures cited by the Associated Press. Nvidia says it is working with European industrial groups, including Siemens, Mercedes-Benz and Audi, as the region looks to expand its role in AI development.
The issue goes beyond software. Access to advanced chips, data centres, reliable energy and industrial partners will help determine whether European companies can turn AI research into products and services at scale.
