At least 29 people were killed and 48 reported missing after Russian forces struck a school used to distribute humanitarian aid and a nearby shelter in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, local authorities said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia launched 289 attack drones, 17 ballistic missiles and 59 cruise missiles across nine regions overnight. The barrage also hit energy infrastructure, prompting emergency power cuts in parts of the country.
Four police officers and two rescue workers were among the dead, according to regional officials. At least five people were injured. The school in Komyshuvakha was no longer being used for classes because of its proximity to the front line; residents gathered there each week to collect humanitarian supplies. Officials said a nearby shelter was hit in a subsequent strike.
In Kharkiv, missile and drone attacks wounded at least 62 people and damaged a medical facility and apartment buildings. More than 200 patients were transferred to other facilities. In the Dnipro area, one person was killed and 17 injured, officials said.
Search-and-rescue operations continued in Komyshuvakha. Regional authorities announced three days of mourning.
